Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting 11-inning matchup that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined 51 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB stated this marks the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th position.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
