Last Vessel of 42-Strong Pro-Palestinian Naval Mission Intercepted by Israel's Forces

This remaining vessel of the 42-vessel humanitarian flotilla seeking to penetrate the Israeli longstanding naval embargo on the Gaza Strip has been stopped by Israeli naval units.

Protest Stoppage and Deportation Processes

Based on government declarations, measures are currently in progress to expel the around four hundred fifty participants currently in detention. Including those apprehended are four Italy's lawmakers who are projected to be repatriated to their home country on a scheduled aircraft.

Final Ship Details

Video from Thursday night revealed the last ship being crewed by multiple activists, including several Turkish individuals, a Germany's participant, and an Omani participant. The Australian skipper of the vessel stated via digital communication: "We have a group of highly resilient Turkish activists with us... we're intending to proceed in our direction."

As stated by a mission representative, the ship had entered the mission delayed after bad weather forced it to head back to harbor in Barcelona.

Previous Background

This halt signifies the closest any unapproved relief mission has gotten to the Gaza shoreline since Israeli authorities imposed its sea restriction in 2009. The boat was apprehended when it was approximated to be forty-two point five sea miles from the shoreline.

Past endeavors by protesters to penetrate the maritime embargo have been halted by armed intervention. In twenty ten, 10 Turkish humanitarians were lost their lives when Israel's commandos stormed the lead ship as it headed an aid fleet toward Gaza.

Further Vessel Information

An additional ship identified as the second vessel seemed to have ventured into Palestinian territorial waters, waiting 9 maritime miles off the coast before being apprehended. Nevertheless, coordinators stated they had lost communication with the boat's team several hours earlier.

"It could be a location malfunction or a equipment issue with the monitoring," commented a representative. "We will only have verification after making contact with the team, which is impossible at present as they are being kept by Israeli forces."

Current Circumstances

The apprehended participants from the mission are being moved to Israel where they will face removal processes. Some participants on this latest attempt, such as prominent figure Greta Thunberg, have been before held by Israeli authorities while attempting to violate the restriction.

Traditionally, participants held by Israeli authorities have not been criminally prosecuted and their involvement has been handled as an immigration concern rather than a legal infraction.
