NFL Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Denver Broncos clinched a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to secure the hard-fought win.

Defensive Performance Seals Game

Despite recording nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a safety in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards during the contest.

Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes left.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense

Despite their horrendous performance, the Jets maintained the ball with a opportunity to score a possible victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.

Fields had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," Glenn commented after the game.
