The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in South America during November, as confirmed by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception leading up to the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio before the climate conference.

Royal sources have characterized the Prince's participation at the next COP as taking on an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and politicians.

This engagement featured addresses alongside French leader Macron of France and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Link

The COP30 summit will align with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the previous day he attends the COP summit on November 6th.

In recent days the royal figure referred to the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a key figure at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats facing us over climate change, climate change and species extinction," the sovereign addressed attendees.
